Nick was not a huge fan of my assistance, and kept trying to distract me with TV or food so he could paint in solitude. He said I didn't follow a "pattern" while painting, which I believe means I'm just not an anal retentive OCD control freak when it comes to projects. If he has his way, I won't be helping with painting the baby's room (right now he's blaming "the fumes", but we all know the hurtful truth.) In the end we decided to name me the "artistic director" of the bookshelf project, which involved me sitting within viewing distance of the bookshelf, while eating Jello cups and watching Harry Potter.
Here's a picture of our final product...Pretty cute, eh?
And a pic of the bookshelf and crib (please disregard the dog butt that's infiltrated this picture):
And a few shots of Sheeba-the-Wonder-Dog for good measure:
It's all fun and games until someone goes slap-ass crazy:
How far along?: 18 weeks
How big is baby?: 5 1/2 inches long and 7 ounces - the size of a bell pepper!
Weight gain?: Why don't you mind your own damn business about it.
Maternity Clothes: Still able to rock normal shorts with a belly band (zipping my pants has become highly optional, though.)
Stretch Marks?: So far, un-striped
Sleep?: Meh - waking up a couple times a night to pee, and having these bizarre nightly hotflashes at 3:30am on the dot every single night. Oh and the dreams...So. Friggin. Weird. Last night's dream involved my kittty, a canoe, a bear, and an avalanche. I think that means the baby's a girl.
Movement: Still feeling those little flutters every so often. Eggy was fluttering around quite a bit while I was watching "Dr. Phil" yesterday, so obviously s/he is a fan of smut TV just like mommy and grandma :)
Gender?: 10 days till pink or blue determination!
Food cravings?: Strawberry jello, grilled cheese sammies (but only the ones made by my hubby), soft serve twist cones from DQ, cheese and crackers dipped in salsa, and water...lots and lots of water.
Belly Button?: Disturbingly shallow.
What I miss the most?: Not much right now - 2nd trimester is as pleasant as promised!
What I'm looking forward to?: I originally typed "Sex! Sex! Sex!" here, but realized that makes this blog appear as something that I wouldn't want my extended family (or my father) reading. Let's try "Gender! Gender! Gender!" Phew. That felt better for everyone, no?
Best moment: Getting the bookshelf for the baby room built by my very own baby daddy!
I love the bookcase and the crib. Well done Nick and Derek! Kind of hoping there is a mattress somewhere for Eggy to rest on. As for the painting... from she who must be obeyed... leave it to Nick. Baby daddy knows best!! You and Sheba can take nice long walks during painting. :)
